AutomataPlay01 Overview
AutomataPlay is developed by David Dry ("we", "us"). This page explains what happens to information when you use the AutomataPlay app for iOS and iPadOS. We've written it in plain language rather than dense legal text — if anything is unclear, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
02 What we don't collect
AutomataPlay has no account, sign-in, or server of its own. Your settings — the colors you've chosen, the cell size, the current rule, and so on — are stored only in the app's local storage on your own device, using iOS's standard mechanism for this. We never see this information, and it's never sent anywhere by us.
03 Advertising
AutomataPlay shows banner ads using Google AdMob. To deliver and measure these ads, Google's SDK may collect and use information such as your device's advertising identifier, general technical data (device type, operating system, coarse location), and how you interact with ads.
Where required by regulation (including in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), the app shows a consent form — provided by Google's User Messaging Platform — before any ad personalization takes place. On iOS, you also control ad tracking directly through Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; if you decline there, AdMob serves non-personalized ads instead.
Google's own policies govern how this data is used:
04 Saving images to your photo library
When you share a pattern from the app, iOS's share sheet can save it to your Photos library. AutomataPlay only ever adds a new photo when you choose to — it never reads, browses, or has access to your existing photo library.
05 Children's privacy
AutomataPlay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad personalization is automatically disabled for any user or device flagged as a child under applicable regulations.
06 Third-party services
The only third-party services used by AutomataPlay are:
- Google AdMob — ad serving
- Google User Messaging Platform — privacy consent management
We don't use analytics, crash reporting, or any other third-party SDK beyond these two.
07 Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
